Editorial

The Europe+ Foundation belongs to us all

Patrice Lefeu Editorial by Patrice Lefeu, CEO of Europe+ Foundation and Executive Director of LA BAULE - WIC

Dear partners in the promotion of the attractiveness of Europe and friends of LA BAULE-World Investment Conference,

True to the vision of its co-founders and co-chairmen, Patrick Gounelle, CEO Ernst & Young France and Southern Europe, and Pierre Guénant, Chairman of PGA Group, the foundation is an open organization welcoming expertise and experience from a host of different areas. Which also makes it an exceptional vector for promoting the attractiveness of Europe and its regions.

Resources are organized by theme, with working groups coordinated by a Strategy Committee headed by Sir Francis Mackay, Chairman of Compass Group plc, and 12 vice presidents, all prominent public and private-sector leaders.

The foundation’s first five panels are now being formed. The reports they present at this year’s LA BAULE conference will provide a springboard for debate at both workshops and working breakfasts.

Themes are:

. Building partnerships between universities, regions and business to shape and nurture the knowledge and know-how of the future

. Laying the foundations for the European Googles of the future

. Promoting a new image for Europe

. The Single Market—opening up new frontiers to the East, North and South

. Europe: the industrial policies of tomorrow

Sir Francis Mackay will be working with the entire Foundation team, notably Jacques de Chilly, to coordinate the panels and prepare reports. At the close of the 2006 conference, key issues and discussions will be integrated and the resulting document presented to the President of the European Commissions, the President of the European Parliament, and representatives of all EU member countries.

Your contributions to this invigorating exchange are essential to the quality and diversity of both content and results — and essential, too, to ensuring that the final report’s recommendations are at once practical and authoritative.

To encourage the active participation of members around Europe, we have arranged for easy-to-use access to the Foundation’s extranet.

We urge you all to contribute to the Foundation and its research aiming for a more attractive Europe — a Europe to be reckoned with in the international arena, back on the road to growth and employment.

The Europe+ Foundation is intended to serve the European Union as a tool for reflection and the development of recommendations in support of the operational implementation of the reforms provided for in the Lisbon Agenda.

At the same time, it offers European businesses, regional organizations and, in time, representatives of civil society sharing a desire to contribute to the European project the means to make their views known and influence developments.

LA BAULE 2006 provisional programme is now available!

In order to help us to improve this 4th edition of the conference we suggest you to fill in the following evaluation form related to LA BAULE 2005.
